
Segue Software Inc. announced upgrades to its QualityWorks client/server testing suite. QualityWorks 4.0 includes new releases of QA Partner, GO!, and QA Organizer, and a new product called QA Radar.
QA Partner is an object-oriented, multiplatform software testing system that has automated recording and scripting features. New additions to QA Partner include Test Creation Wizards, which guide you through the process of creating, defining, and running tests and a New Table Verification feature, which lets you test the contents of GUI table objects such as PowerBuilder data tables.
GO! automatically tests application software. It lets you create tests without having to write code, and perform basic testing of most applications. GO! automates routine GUI tests and provides reports that facilitate more advanced testing procedures.
QA Organizer, formerly called QA Planner, is a multiplatform test planning and management tool that provides a central point of control for managing the entire testing process and report management information. Test scripts can be created, built, and man aged within QA Organizer, which also serves as a repository for all current and historical data. You view test results within the context of your custom test plan. The new release adds extensive graphing and charting features.
QA Radar is a multiplatform defect tracking tool that lets developers track and manage software bugs throughout the development cycle and generate reports on the status. QA Radar features Show Me, which enables the bug to be re-created via integration wi th QA Partner. Show Me provides an online link between applications development and QA teams.

Evergreen Software Tools Inc. announced EasyER 1.1, the latest version of its data modeling/database design tool. Version 1.1 includes the Sybase SQL Anywhere 5.0 database engine and its ODBC 2 driver. Watcom SQL 4 provides users with a scalable S QL database solution.
EasyER 1.1 lets you create a new chart based on a selection of entities on the currently loaded chart; this lets you break a large chart into smaller charts. Version 1.1 includes an Entity Pick List, which enables existing entities to be dragged and drop ped onto a chart. The list appears on the main window and is available whether or not a chart is loaded. The upgraded EasyER generates domains for Sybase SQL Anywhere 5.0 and can reverse-engineer domains, stored procedures, and triggers for Sybase SQL An ywhere 5.0, Watcom SQL 4.0, Sybase System 10/11, Microsoft SQL Server 6.x, Borland InterBase 4.x, and Oracle 7.x.
The EasyER 1.1 upgrade is available at no charge through the end of 1996 to all registered EasyER version 1.0x users, or it can be purchased from Evergreen Software Tools. The update can be downloaded from the company's Web page.

Arbor Software Corp. announced Essbase Web Gateway, which provides scalable, high-speed, interactive, read and write access to the Essbase OLAP server over the Web. Web Gateway lets you use your Web browser to access essential Essbase features, in cluding drill-down, -up, and -across, multidimensional reporting with ranking, filtering, and sorting, and interactive online update.
Web Gateway lets you deploy OLAP applications via the Web. You can enhance standard Web pages with 50 custom Essbase HTML tags, which control the operation of the Web Gateway. Web Gateway works with standard Web browsers and servers over dial-up connecti ons, Intranets, and the Internet. Web Gateway uses standard HTML 3.0 features such as HTML tables, forms, and cookies to provide comprehensive OLAP functionality without proprietary programming or plug-ins. You can use standard HTML-based Web authoring t ools such as HotMetal Pro and Microsoft Front Page to build Web Gateway applications.
Web Gateway generates HTML form controls along with HTML tables and data. Because JavaScript can interact with form controls, Java and ActiveX can be integrated with Web Gateway applications to deliver highly functional applications. You can leverage Jav aScript, Java applets, and ActiveX to deliver user functionality such as client-side charting, data-entry validation, and interactive online help.
Web Gateway costs $10,000 per server and is available on Windows NT. Arbor is scheduled to begin beta testing a version for Sun Microsystems' Solaris operating system at the end of 1996.
